Marina Demand Study, North Wales
Client: Gwynedd Council
Working alongside Newidiem, the leading economic development consultancy in Wales, we were commissioned to carry out a market demand assessment to gauge the future demand for marina berths in Gwynedd. The study involved an extensive consultation exercise with key stakeholders, an analysis of the drive-time and demographic data and an analysis of the latest trends within the leisure and tourism sectors with particular focus on sailing and other watersports.
Brighton Marina, East Sussex
Client: Private Investor
We investigated the market opportunity to create a new concept restaurant within the latest commercial phase of development at Brighton Marina. This involved carrying out an assessment of the market, including reviewing the demographic profile, an analysis of the tourist and eating out sectors, the exploration of the product and service offering and financial appraisal. Brighton Marina is one of the south coast’s innovative marina developments, which benefits from its links to Brighton.
Client: Forestry Commission
Bedgebury National Pinetum, located in Kent covers over 800 hectares. Prior to the introduction of new visitor facilities the Pinetum was known as a specialist arboretum which had limited appeal
amongst the visitor market with a poor visitor infrastructure. We carried out a feasibility study, market assessment and business planning strategy for a new visitor centre. We also advised on operational considerations.
Bedgebury has become one of the premier destinations for outdoor leisure and recreation in the south east, with a strong community and education focus. The successful funding advice (mixed funding) for £2.1 million was used to introduce new visitor facilities to increase market appeal and access.
Visitor numbers have increased from 40,000 to 270,000; there has been a growth in the cycling club and cycle skills training; there is a high level of repeat visits which is critical for the successful operation of a visitor attraction (55% of visitors come to Bedgebury more than once a month).
