Adventure Tourism Accommodation
Client: Forestry
Commission
In line with the Forestry Commission’s
future plans to utilise their natural assets, we were
commissioned to research market opportunities for developing
innovative accommodation modules linked with adventure
tourism within Forestry Commission managed forests. Our
research and site visits focused mainly around existing
destinations for adventure based activities in Wales with a
particular focus within or close to the National Parks. One
of the main priority activities was to support the emerging
mountain bike centres of excellence on Forestry Commission’s
land in Wales
Our work created two different
development scenarios to suit both group visitors and
independent travellers based on a small cluster of
accommodation units. We also made recommendations on funding
and marketing opportunities as well as preparing initial
capital cost estimates and revenue forecasts for individual
sites.
National Day Visitor
Attraction, Derbyshire
Client: Derbyshire County Council and
Derby City Council
Working within a
multi-disciplinary team we assessed the potential of
introducing a visitor attraction of national appeal on to a
brownfield site. The attraction would be themed around
‘cycling’. Our work included carrying out an assessment of
two sites, a market assessment, penetration rate analysis
and preparing a detailed financial model. Working in a
design team we advised on key operational and design
considerations for the visitor attraction.
